Indian Cricket The Fallen Idol

Champions League T20 Cricket Tournament to begin on 8th of October 2009 but without any Pakistani team.

After 26/11’s Mumbai attacks and subsequent attacks on Sri Lankan players in Lahore, closed the doors of participation of any Pakistani Cricket team in events staged in India and created a drought of Cricketing events on Pakistan’s soil. The impact was seen as negative and dangerous for the future of Pakistani cricket and for the players who were thirsty to play international teams and gain experience. However, in my opinion the exclusion of Pakistan from the money making tournaments like IPL and Champions League brought a new challenge to the national team.

After the victory in T20 World Cup this year, the attitude of Pakistani Cricket Team seems very positive. In normal circumstances, the exclusion and isolation from International cricket may had been negatively effected the team morale and confidence but by the Grace of Allah, Pakistan seems to have elevated itself from all the negative conditions. The temporary sorrow of not participating in Indian Premier League (IPL) turned into a bigger cheer when we saw Indian team bearing the biggest insult of loosing the T20 World Cup so miserably and that too being the self declared PhD in that form of cricket due to IPL tournament. Not many days passed, when we saw India declared to be on the top slot in the One Day International’s ranking of the world cricket, But they met shameful failure on another big event of Champions Trophy in South Africa where the performance of Indian team was slightly better than second grade West Indian team. More ironically, to wash the tears of Indian Cricketers, ICC came forward to rescue with some pride. The ICC awards were showered on Indians to ensure future bucks to be earned from Advertising and Sponsorship by the Indian Companies.

Pakistan on the other hand displayed the best form of cricket by defeating most superior teams of world cricket in T20 world cup and that too with highly confident approach. The artistry and surgical assault on the big teams like South Africa and in finals on Sri Lanka displayed the superiority of the Pakistani Cricket team. Now in Champions Trophy, the way Pakistan played against Australia in the final pool match also showed that taking Pakistan as a mediocre opponent would be a bad mistake. The tournament is reaching its conclusion and it is expected that Australia and Pakistan would meet in the finals, but it is true that whatever be the result, it is proven that excessive cricket has not deteriorated the Australian team’s professionalism but it is a message for Indian Nation that their idols are made of soft mud and they are so easily thrashed by their opponents when it comes to face to face encounter on equal terms without giving excuse of tough engagements. IPL or Champions League may earn some money and create some artificial happiness but the real challenge of playing on highest level in international arena is a different thing. India is loosing every tournament of international level and continuously proving to its nation that in the tournaments of extreme importance their cricket team is standing with Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and Canada.

It is most cruel from the part of BCCI that it has made its player only money thirsty but not the pride thirsty. Today Pakistani nation is proud and jubilant on the performance of their team which is defeating every big force of cricket in prestigious tournaments.

Indians should choose, are they happy with domestic show piece tournaments or they really wish to see their team to achieve some pride internationally.

Pakistan has now come out with open chest and has proven that all the conspiracies and all the ugly actions sponsored by Indian Government to isolate Pakistan are not going to stop our cricketers to teach the lesson to Indian cricketers on ground when on equal terms, Indian cricket is just a bunch of advertising models but not the professional cricketers.
